GitHub webhooks, without the lost events
Put HookStead in front of GitHub webhooks: verified on arrival, stored, retried automatically and replayable when your CI or bot is down.
Common problems, solved
- GitHub doesn't retry failed deliveries automatically.
- HookStead does: when your service is down, deliveries are retried with backoff, and anything that still fails can be replayed later.
- Your handler is slow and GitHub marks deliveries as timed out.
- HookStead accepts the delivery for GitHub immediately and gives your endpoint its own, separate timeout and retries.
- Hard to see what a push or pull_request payload actually contained.
- Search events by type, header or JSON path, and open any event to see its headers and body, with secrets redacted.
Set up in five minutes
- 01Create a source in HookStead with the “GitHub signature” option and choose a secret.
- 02In your repository or organization settings, add a webhook with the source URL, content type application/json and the same secret.
- 03Add your service as a destination and connect it to the source.
- 04Push a commit or redeliver a ping and follow it in the dashboard.
